Troubles in the Urban Youth Culture

      In the World today so many young people, especially teens, are having their lives taken from them for no reason what so ever. However, it has in a way gotten out of hand with all this nonsense. Too many teens are worried about impressing their peers and the people in their surroundings. They end up forgetting about what is really important in life and what matters most. In today’s generation kids have been tricked by the music videos and the cars, making them think it’s just that easy to make it to the top, but really if you want something you have to work for it, its not just given to you like a piece of candy. Because of our ancestors and elderly folks, we all stand where we are today. It is because of them we are where we are, yet teens become arrogant and don’t appreciate their struggles. They take advantage of them, they disrespect elders and not showing the respect they should.  Additionally, over the years the high school dropout rate has risen tremendously. Students think that skipping school and dropping out is cool, but don’t get me wrong some kids dropout because they have to work and help contribute to bills because of their family’s financial level. Consequently, they don’t get the education they want instead they have to work. On the other hand, other kids believe that staying on the streets selling drugs or getting money from their boyfriend is going to last forever when really that will start to get old. Teens aren’t being encouraged in school enough or pushed hard enough. Every child has the potential of going off to college and having a career. They aren’t being taught what school really means you don’t just go to school so that a teacher could make your life miserable you go because the more you know the more jobs and opportunities you will have in life.
